Epoxy vs. polyaspartic
Epoxy
A long-established coating that builds a thick, hard layer over concrete.
- Good build thickness
- Wide range of colors and finishes
- Longer cure time between coats
- Often used as a base coat in multi-layer systems
Polyaspartic
A newer coating chemistry known for faster curing and UV stability.
- Faster return to service
- More UV-stable for sun-exposed areas
- Commonly used as a clear topcoat
- Suited to patios and garages with open doors
Many floors use both: an epoxy base for build and a polyaspartic topcoat for UV stability and durability. We'll recommend a system based on how the space is used.
Preparation is what makes a coating last
Most coating failures come from poor surface preparation. Concrete needs to be mechanically profiled, typically by diamond grinding, so the coating can bond to it. Cracks and spalls are repaired, and moisture conditions are checked before any product goes down.
We'll explain the preparation your floor needs and what you can expect from the finished system.
Where coated floors work well
Garages
A clean, bright floor that resists stains and is easy to sweep and mop.
Patios and lanais
UV-stable systems for covered and open outdoor spaces.
Pool decks
Coatings selected with slip resistance in mind for wet areas.
Workshops and storage
Durable floors for spaces that see tools and equipment.
Commercial and retail
Clean, easy-maintenance floors for showrooms and service areas.
Laundry and utility rooms
Seamless surfaces that are simple to clean.
Commercial restrooms and wet areas
Restrooms take constant foot traffic, moisture and daily cleaning. A seamless flake coating replaces bare or worn concrete with a floor that has no grout lines to trap dirt and is simple to mop and sanitize.
Fixtures and walls are masked and protected, the slab is prepared, and the system is installed in stages so the space can return to service as soon as the coating has cured.

Metallic finishes for offices and showrooms
Metallic coatings use pigments that move as the coating goes down, so every floor ends up with its own flowing pattern and a high-gloss depth. They suit offices, conference rooms, showrooms and retail spaces where the floor is part of the design.
This conference room was finished with a blue metallic system. We'll help you choose colors and confirm the preparation the slab needs before installation.

Concrete Coatings questions
How long before I can use my garage again?
It depends on the coating system and conditions. Polyaspartic systems generally return to service faster than epoxy. We'll give you specific guidance for your floor after installation.
Will a coated floor be slippery?
Smooth coatings can be slippery when wet. Decorative flake and slip-resistant additives add texture, and we'll recommend the right option for each area.
Can you coat over an existing coating or painted floor?
Usually the existing coating needs to be removed so the new system can bond to bare concrete. We'll evaluate it during the estimate.
Do hot tires damage coated garage floors?
Properly prepared and installed systems are designed to handle vehicle traffic. Poor preparation is the most common cause of peeling, which is why we grind the concrete before coating.
